Murphy’s law of spirituality: “You reach your level of spiritual incompetence when you think you know what it is.”
You don’t know and never will, but the funny thing about spirituality is that the greater your incompetence, the more fiercely you will hold on to it. Letting go of what you know is how you “know,” but again, you don’t.

Your spoken or unspoken unworthiness, imperfection, sadness, fear, etc., is your mind’s rejection of what it recognizes but fails to know. That is, “what YOU are,” underneath all the labels you apply to yourself, is pushed aside more fiercely and clung to as the necessary evil of your existence. It is often called suffering.
In other words, your mind is afraid of “what YOU are” to the extent that it accepts and forms lies that virtue and perfection are something you are not. Do you see? Your mind utters judgments because it cannot fathom the impossible, and “what YOU are” is the ‘impossible.”
Without any of your mind-made or human-made labels, what (ultimately) are YOU? You’ll never know if any answer contains even a remnant of those labels. You’re perfect! Don’t believe it; silence your thoughts and “know it.” You (really) can “know.”

Right now, even as you read this, everything tunes out, your focus narrows with only thoughtful concentration as you grasp the words you’re reading, and in the surrounding silence, it is the most simple and non-complex your life will ever be. But only in this moment and just because silence carries bliss, the bliss that is your home.
Awareness is not about focus, paying attention, or thinking. It’s the silence surrounding it. Let the words flow, but listen to the sounds they do not make. Now, smile as you return to your human experience, and thanks for spending a moment with me.

The way to awareness is entered through the mind’s threshold, but not in the way you think. You must close the door of thought and feeling as you pass into stillness and leave all that was or might be without mental observance and its constant inquiry and interjection.
Silence is not an easy pill for any mind to take, but unlike so many “pills” you are told to swallow, silence opens into “knowing” that is otherwise unknowable when “mindful doors” are left open. Go on; step through and shut that door.

The so-called collective consciousness is “out there,” and if you subscribe to any aspect of it or feed it with your sanction, regardless of its virtue or ideological bent, you then exist “out there” as well. Do you see? “Out there” is anywhere but where YOU, the real you, is.

Darkness is not the Sun’s opposite. The Sun is always free of darkness and always shines light. What YOU are outside your mind (body) is the same. It knows no opposites and shines eternal light, e.g., YOU are always “shining.” Do you see?
Only your mind calls in what “is not there” and makes it “there.” What to do? Wrest your mind of darkness and stop “calling.”

January 1st, 2024 Timeline
9:00 – 9:45 AM – Dutifully and diligently wrote down and articulated 2024 New Year’s resolutions. I carefully mounted them in a frame and placed them in a visually accessible, prominent place where I would see them daily.
10:00 AM – All resolutions are broken, removed from the frame, and thrown in the trash, along with any commitment to reinstate them.
10:01 AM – There’s still plenty of time to experience a fantastic day! Perfect. Happy New Year, everyone.

All too often, we create our divisions, e.g., “I am different than you because…” and lose ourselves in defense of them. Do you see? We sacrifice our love, dignity, kindness, tolerance, etc., to a fight that should never have occurred. You are not divisible if you are “one” with all that is, and you are even when you aren’t.

I don’t believe that there is anything more significant in the universe than this moment I spend now. In truth, I don’t believe in anything at all. If engaged fully in the present, belief in anything is unnecessary and a waste of mental energy that won’t alter, in any way, what is. Being present requires nothing from you except, well, BEING!
