The expectation of experience is the destroyer of experience. “What is” will never yield to your thoughts, wishes, or hopes of what it should be. The cliché that says “life will pass you by” never happens. What passes by is you, the human, trying to outthink “what is,” thus missing altogether the only thing you can experience. Do you see? Always embrace “what is” as is. The best wish in life is no wish at all.

Everything you do is a brush with life. What you supposedly choose is unimportant. Most of us stall out from the choices before us when doing anything would suffice. Engage with life but don’t overthink it. You cannot mess this up! None of us can!

There are no “nots” in the language of life. “Nots” are a product of your mind. That is, if you say life is “not” supposed to be this or that, you pit yourself against reality. If life does not run the full gamut you experience, you mock it, and to judge it in any way is you making stuff up, which again, is denial of “what is” in this moment. Embrace your “nots” and don’t get tied up in knots over it. The spectrum of beauty and life itself contains not only the “nots” but everything else as well.

Your mind, contrary to what you think, does not seek limitlessness. It seeks limitation, safety, and comfort. It loves to control and creates boundaries around things it cannot control. Your mind’s elemental starting point for all interaction is “I am right,” and “everything (everyone) else is wrong.” Switching off your mind puts you squarely in the place of present-moment experience where mystery and wonder are incomprehensible to anything your mind thinks is better. Go “mindless” today; If you aren’t thinking there are no limitations!

In spirituality, the beckon is to focus more narrowly, define more clearly, or, as it is now called, raise consciousness. However, the more detailed you become in your descriptions of life, the more wrapped up in your mind you become. In other words, attention to detail, in the spiritual sense, leads to loss of awareness. Quieting your mind removes your sense of reason from the picture of the life you uphold and thus clears your focus, letting more light show through. Under any lens, beauty is present, but if you are determined to sharpen your focus (reason), you will not see that much of it. Set your reason aside. Clarity doesn’t need it, and when it comes to awareness, neither do you!

Oneness is ubiquitous. That is, YOU are everything, and nowhere in all existence are YOU not found. Your mind (ego), however, separates you from everything but takes great pride in statements such as, “we are all one, etc.” Do you see? “You, separate from me, and I separate from you are one” is still separation. Being present is awareness without a definition of an “I,” seeking to merge with all. You cannot seek that which touches everything, and YOU are everything! That is, right up until you think you are everything. Oneness is not a thought; it just is. So let it be.

The voice you hear and pay attention to is your voice. That is the voice of ego ‘sorting things out” according to its rules and judgments. It is the most erroneous voice you know, and it creates the false narrative of what is. The voice you don’t hear never judges, complains, makes stuff up about what happens, or seeks to be right. It embraces life in quiet and thrills in each moment it participates in the grand mystery of human experience. It is the voice that never condemns another and shows only kindness to all “forms.” If you listen, you will hear it, but never if you are thinking. Shhh; mystery is afoot!

Water may conform to the outline of the bottle, but it will always be water. Like water, YOU are innately love, truth, and beauty, and exist far beyond the container that holds you. That is, who you think yourself to be is your containment, and it is not “what YOU are.” When the container (your idea of what you are) is empty, or perhaps missing, YOU will always and only be YOU.

The “balance” you seek can only happen when all the things you believe cause you suffering, or are wrong with you or life in general, are willingly experienced and embraced. That is, living completely without a single regret or wish for something other. In other words, your life is not you swinging from one high to another low and trying to minimize (balance) the span or intensity between them. It is you in the middle (fulcrum) giving cause, not balance, to the entire ride. Without YOU, nothing else exists; hence, no “ride” at all! That is the sweetest joy you can see and the only life you’re going to experience anyway. Have fun!

What you believe is the heart of all your suffering and, sadly, you cannot think or educate your way out of it. You can, however, unthink your way to freedom by not thinking at all. Let yourself lose control of all your mind has convinced you it has under control, and you will discover you never had any, regardless of what your mind convinced you of otherwise. Surprisingly, that’s when you will feel the most in control. It just doesn’t get any easier – but hard.
