The new-age idea of consciousness is ego’s “Hail Mary.” In other words, if ego can keep you convinced that what you think you are carries on even after the body dies, it can keep you forever separate from what YOU really are, which is unthinkable and unconscious. The new-age view of consciousness paints hope and belief in what will never be, keeping you from “what is,” and “what is” is ALL that is, and it is not because you are conscious of it. Is your mind churning? That’s ego giving you pause or trying to find a fit in its library of the unreal. Take what you get and not what ego gives. You’ll see a lot just before ego takes over, chattering away its description, but in that split second before the buzz of mind, you will have looked into eternity and glimpsed something no human (ego) could “consciously” experience. No words will describe it! Unconsciousness is awareness.
