In your efforts to “become,” make sure “you,” that is, the real you, are who you become. Too often, we are told that to be a certain way, to gain personal wealth, achievement, or station in life, we should surround ourselves with others who possess the same or similar traits or imitate them; you know, “Act as if.” Becoming what you aren’t is too great a loss, and such endeavors cost far too much. In the end, no one asks you who you became; they only know “what you are, or “what you pretend to be.” Don’t pretend; be “you” always. You’ll always be better at “you” than some imitation!
